Prayers from World Vision on Covid 19

Prayers for people infected with COVID-19 or facing isolation Jesus, during Your ministry on Earth You showed Your power and caring by healing people of all ages and stations of life from physical, mental and spiritual ailments. Be present now to people who need Your loving touch because of COVID-19. May they feel Your power of healing through the care of doctors, nurses, family, friends and neighbours. Take away the fear, anxiety, and feelings of isolation from people receiving treatment or under quarantine. Protect their families and bring peace to all who love them.

Prayers for people at higher risk of developing the disease Dear Lord, we lift to you our concern for people who are more likely than others to become severely ill from COVID-19. The elderly and people with chronic health conditions. Protect them from harm and be their comfort in this time of uncertainty.

Prayers for medical professionals, caregivers, researchers, and our leaders.  Father, we seek Your wisdom daily. Be with people making decisions that affect the lives and futures of our families, communities, countries, and the wider world. May they know your comfort and gain strength and resilience from it. That they seek your wisdom and discern your will. We ask for a focus on unity between nations, compassion for all people and a determination to come together to work for the good of all.

Prayers for the vulnerable across the World. Dear Lord, we ask your protection for the most vulnerable people. Those living in countries with weak health systems, limited hospitals, health centres, doctors and nurses if they fall sick. In many countries, vulnerable children are at increased risk of catching contagious illnesses. Although children are not currently considered the most vulnerable to this virus, they’re vulnerable to the effects that it creates; with extra strain on health facilities, when their caregivers get sick, children can be left without proper care and protection.  Lord help us all do what we need to help limit the spread of this disease, in our families, communities, nation and world.

Do you have a daily prayer time? Do you want help with things to pray for? Below is a suggested diary of topics for prayer each week:

  • Monday – the young people in our church and village; our youth club and our youth leaders
  • Tuesday – Our church leaders, guidance in decision making, the way forward for our church
  • Wednesday – Those who attend our church and those who are less able to attend
  • Thursday – Our village, the other churches in the village, the parish council
  • Friday – Those who come to our coffee mornings and the personal links we have with our neighbours and others in the village
  • Saturday – The wider area, our neighbouring villages and towns and the churches we have links with in the Soar Valley and elsewhere
  • Sunday – Our worship of God, the services and teaching at Church, Youth Church and our response

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. (Ephesians 6:18 NIV)
